The Duke of Gloucester Visits the SVR
His Royal Highness visited the railway on Monday 14th May. He was received at Kidderminster and travelled to Bewdley in the observation saloon, which was pulled by newly-arrived Furness railway number 20, the oldest working standard gauge steam locomotive in Britain.
The Duke unveiled a plaque at Bewdley commemorating his visit to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the first passenger train travelling along the SVR. The original plaque will be erected at Bewdley Station and a copy has also been made for Bridgnorth.
