Following a two stage interview process we have successfully recruited a new Heritage Support (Commercial) Manager. The position of Heritage Support (Commercial) Manager has been awarded to Andrew Burton.
Andrew, a resident of Stourport, has a wide ranging retail and catering background. Having started with retailers such as WM Morrisons and House of Fraser, more recently Andrew has managed Garden Centres including Percy Thrower, The Garden and Leisure Group, and Notcutts. Andrew will commence work with the SVR on the 18th January, with Sharon Harvey stepping down on the 22nd January 2016. Sharon will continue on the Railway as a volunteer, carrying on a number of projects. During Andrew’s first few weeks he will visit all stations and be introduced around the Railway.
Once again I would like to thank Sharon for the hard work she has put in taking on the role and wish her every success for the future.

Career Summary
"Living locally with my wife and 2 children in Stourport for the past 5 years and having connections to the area since 2004, the opportunity to join Severn Valley Railway was too good to miss. Joining a company that has a fantastic heritage with a family culture is a pleasure and I feel very honoured and fortunate to join the team here.
I started my catering journey from the age of 16 and I have been working for the past 27 years in both catering and retail industries. My full time working life started in supermarkets, then developed onto the high street before moving to garden centre industry. Joining Wm Morrisons after completing my business qualifications gave me my first taste of management in 1990, which was supported by working for House of Fraser for a number of years as a home and fashion manager. In 2001 I was recruited to be part of the team supporting implementation of retailing commerciality, standards, processes and service into Garden & Leisure. Local centres that I ran over my 14 years with Garden & Leisure include Percy Throwers, Gardenlands and Barnett Hill. My roles gave me full accountabilities of running a business; including staff development, delivering service at the highest level to give a real point of difference, maximising sales and profit, along with strategic business planning skills. My core skills range from the entrepreneurial experience I have gained, and also include Human Resources, training, commerciality, Health and Safety and Marketing experience."
