Bewdley Platform 2 & 3 Canopy

Work is progressing on Bewdley canopy at a steady pace as the weather holds. The roof has been stripped of in its entirety and has revealed areas of corrosion on the steel section of the canopy. This is quite With help from Bewdley carriage department, the badly corroded joining plates in four places have been replaced with new steel ones that have been bolted in position rather than the original hot rivets. Shot blasting of the corroded areas has taken place using sub-contractors and a coat of special high build primer applied. Some of the original GWR “Light Stone” is clearly visible underneath the later BR and SVR applied colour schemes and is a useful reference for the restoration back to original condition.
